Hey there! 👋 Welcome to GIF.new — a fun little tool to help you instantly create personal response GIFs right from your browser. Your privacy matters to us, so here's a breakdown of what we do (and don't do) with your data.

TL;DR#

  • We don't store your videos unless you choose to save them.
  • GIFs you create as a visitor live only in your browser — not on our servers.
  • Logged-in users who create templates will have those videos stored securely.
  • We use analytics and a few helpful tools to improve the app — but no creepy tracking.
  • We never sell your data. Ever.

1. For Visitors (No Login Required)#

When you just drop by and start using the app:

What We Do:

  • Ask for camera access so you can record.
  • Show you a live camera preview in your browser.
  • Convert your recording into a GIF — all inside your browser.

What We Don't Do:

  • We don't send your video or GIF to our servers.
  • We don't store anything. If you refresh, it's all gone.
  • We don't track you beyond basic Google Analytics.

2. For Logged-in Users#

When you log in using Google or email (Magic Link):

What We Collect:

  • Your name, email, and profile image (if using Google Sign-In).
  • Your email (if using Magic Link).
  • We store this info in Supabase to manage your account.

When You Create a Template:

If you add placeholder text and convert your video into a template, we upload and store:

  • Your recorded video (stored on Cloudflare).
  • The converted GIF (processed via AWS and also stored).

You'll always be notified when a recording is being uploaded.

3. Third-Party Services We Use#

To make GIF.new work smoothly, we use:

  • Google Analytics – for anonymous usage insights.
  • Supabase – to manage user accounts and authentication.
  • Resend – to send Magic Link login emails.
  • Cloudflare – to store uploaded videos and templates.
  • AWS – to convert video to GIF.
  • (Coming Soon) Stripe – for payments.

These services only get the data they need to do their job — nothing more.

4. Account Deletion & Data Removal#

We don't have a delete-my-account button yet, but it's on our roadmap. If you want us to delete your account or data sooner, just email us at [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

5. No Sensitive Data, Please#

We don't do facial recognition or store any biometric or health data. Just simple video content for creating your reaction GIFs.

6. Age Policy#

We don't knowingly collect data from kids. While we don't verify age, this app is intended for users 13+. If you're a parent and find out your child's using it, reach out — we'll help.

7. Changes to This Policy#

We may update this policy if/when things change (e.g., when we add payments). If we make big changes, we'll let you know.
