This Privacy Policy explains how GIF.new ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information.
What Data We Collect#
Local File Processing#
By default, files you use with GIF.new are processed entirely in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
Hosted Content#
If you choose to generate a shareable link, we collect and store:
- The hosted GIF
- Associated metadata (file size, creation time, plan tier)
Retention depends on your selected pricing plan.
Account & Subscription Data#
If you create an account or subscribe, we may store:
- Email address
- Customer and subscription identifiers
- Plan status and billing metadata
We do not store credit card details. All payments are handled by Stripe.
Analytics#
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the Service is used.
This may collect:
- IP address
- Device and browser information
- Usage events
Analytics data is currently retained indefinitely.
Cookies#
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. We do not currently operate a cookie consent banner.
How We Use Data#
We use collected data to:
- Operate and improve the Service
- Provide hosting and subscription features
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Monitor performance and detect abuse

Data Sharing#
We do not sell your data.
We may share data with trusted processors such as:
- Stripe (payments)
- Google Analytics (usage analytics)

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.
